At the moment, the PSTN line is connected to the IP/DECT basestation and just rings all those extensions. Adding the SPA3000 is just to inject some extra options into the call handling. I am going to use it to connect an eircom line to my Asterisk server and have Asterisk handle the incoming PSTN calls. I use Blueface (via IAX), and voipgain and intervoip (outgoing only, via SIP) for calls.
Apr 01, 2012 Maybe someone's already posted this, but I just noticed there's finally a new release for the trusty old Sipura SPA-3000.www.linksys.com/servlet/.2FVisitorWra. SIPURA SPA-2000 Installation Guide Version 1.1. Download the firmware 2.0.13g from the Sipura support site (www.sipura.com) or from your reseller to your PC.
See Figure 7 for full details: Figure 7: Codec and Dialplan Settings. Step 6 • Click on the Regional tab at the top of the SPA-3000 configuration. • Set Dial Tone to: 400@-16,425@-16,450@-16;10(*/0/1+2+3). • Set Second Dial Tone to: 420@-19,520@-19;10(*/0/1+2).
You should be able to make phone calls, and in the event of a network failure your Sipura SPA-3000 should failover to the standard phone line. If you are having trouble setting up the Sipura or would like to clarify some of the steps, please. Appendix: The Sipura Dialplan Explained The most confusing part of configuring a Sipura SPA-3000 is setting the correct dial plan. Below we've taken the standard ('Lifeline') NodePhone dial plan and dissected it into its individual components, explaining what each part does along the way. In the dial plan gw0 refers to the standard telephone line (PSTN line), and gw1 refers to the NodePhone line. xx.) This line allows you to press the hash (#) key before dialling to force the call to go out via the standard phone line.
• Set Outside Dial Tone to: 420@-16;10(*/0/1). • Set Prompt Tone to: 520@-19,620@-19;10(*/0/1+2). • Set Busy Tone to: 425@-16;10(.375/.375/1). • Set Ring Back Tone to: 440@-19,480@-19;*(2/4/1+2). • Set Ring1 Cadence to: 60(.4/.2.4/2).
On your phone, enter * * * *, you'll hear a voice saying 'Sipura configuration menu'. On your phone, enter 1 1 0 #, you'll hear a voice telling you what the TA's IP address is.
Figure 2: Assembled SPA-3000 power supply. Step 3 • Insert the supplied Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port next to the power plug on the SPA-3000. • Connect the other end to a spare Ethernet port on your ADSL router. • Attach the assembled power adapter into the SPA-3000. • Attach the cable plugged into the Local Phone port on your ADSL Line Filter to the Line port on your Sipura SPA-3000 (the port closer to the centre of the unit).
• You need to set to No every option except the following 3 options, which need to be set to Yes. • Three Way Call Serv • Three Way Conf Serv • CID Serv • Under VoIP Fallback to PSTN, set Auto PSTN Fallback to Yes. • Further down the Line 1 page set the Preferred Audio Codec to G729a.
• Press Submit All Changes at the bottom of the page. See Figure 8 for details.
Thanks for that. I actually found 3.1.10 and 3.1.20 and a version or two more in the support forums on the Cisco site, attached to messages. I just finished packing up the SPA3000 actually: I am going to send it back to the vendor and exchange it. After I noticed that you could not talk to it via **** or reset it to factory defaults I sort of lost confidence that it was actually working properly at all:-) I am going to use it to connect an eircom line to my Asterisk server and have Asterisk handle the incoming PSTN calls. I use Blueface (via IAX), and voipgain and intervoip (outgoing only, via SIP) for calls. Asterisk handles all trunking and will continue to do so when I get a working SPA3000.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This guide has been prepared with Sipura firmware version 3.1.10d. If you are using older firmware, the web configuration screen may not look the same as the images below. Connecting the Sipura SPA-3000 Step 1 • Please check to make sure you have the following items: • Sipura SPA-3000 Analog Telephone Adapter • Ethernet cable • Telephone cable • 5 Volt Power Adapter • You will also need: • Analog telephone handset or cordless base station • NodePhone account • Standard telephone service (for failover) Step 2 • Slide the plug shaped piece into the power adapter so that assembled it looks like Figure 2. You will need to press the 'push' button on the power adapter for the plug piece to clip in correctly. Figure 1: The Sipura SPA-3000 Power adapter disassembled.
- Just follow the prompts. Http-a method - your own httpd server. You'll need the.bin file(s). Put the.bin file(s) in a directory on your httpd server. - For discussion, let's say we put our files in the 'Sipura' directory.

This is Sipura's firmware version 3.1.10d - feel free to use this URL to download the firmware. • Wait until the status LED on the SPA-3000 stops flashing fast. • Enjoy your new firmware:-) Note: I've read reports that echo is worse with v3.x firmware than with v2.x. I didn't run v2.x for very long - I had problems with incoming caller ID with v2.0.13g, which were fixed in v3.1.10d, and I didn't try to solve my echo problems until after I upgraded, so I can't say whether v2.x was any better.

If successful, you'll see a 'wait' screen and the lightson your TA will be flashing. After upgrading.
Provide for their analogue VoIP adapter. They include a Windows program to upgrade the firmware, which is of no use to those of us who don't use Windows. Fortunately, it's very easy to upgrade the firmware via tftp, http or https. All you need is access to a tftp, http or https server.
Let's get started: - First take a quick read-through of the different methods you can use then download the version you want for the upgrade method you plan to use (see the bottom of the page). - Note: If you use the 'http method-B', you don't have to download anyting (you an use our site). Before continuing: We assume you have a DHCP server on your network so the Sipura can obtain an IP address. - If not, you better re-think this unless you know how to statically set IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS, etc, in your Sipura.
I had exactly the same problem, I also contacted Jason from JMG as I recently purchased a billion 7300 router/modem from him and he suggested I turn off windows XP firewall. I don't use windows firewall but had set Comodo firewall to allow all and didn't work so just today I decided to exit it completely and the SPA upgraded. Try completely exiting your firewall and it should upgrade.
Just as a small example I setup a unit overseas hanging off my Poundkey/FreePBX unit here and gave 8 people overseas access to call me or any landline in Australia and overseas if required, each person had their own pin number. This unit is incorporated in my new project of Astlinux as I could not install a TDM card for PSTN interface. I have become increasing disllusioned with the TDM cards due to a lack of consistent perfoemance from client to client. Could you elaborate as to what issues you are having? Cheers Cleve. When running the updater, it finds the SPA no worries, gives me the MAC address etc, and prompts to press the upgrade button, then it just sits there with a message saying 'waiting for upgrade request from SPA', but it never writes the firmware to the unit???
- Write this down! Installation Methods Windows Method You'll need the.zip file for the version you are installing. Using winzip or some other extraction software, extract both files in the archive to a folder. - It's a good idea nothing else is in that folder. It's assumed that both the TA and you're Windows box are on the same network.' Go to the folder where you extracted the files and double click on the.exe file. - You'll be required to input the IP address of the TA.

Sorry - We don't have a picture of the SPA-2000. All of the above TA's (Telephone Adapters) for the SIP protocol work GREAT but unfortunately are out of production. - But there are still plenty around on E-Bay and elsewhere selling very CHEAP. The problem with Firmware for these things started when Sipura sold out to Cisco. - Cisco keeps all Firmware close to the heart and it's darn near impossible to find it on any of Cisco's sites. Since I've got about a dozen of these things, I've bought the bullet and built up a small collection of firmware and will provide you with instructions on how to upgrade your Sipura TA.
• Attach your telephone to the Phone port on the SPA-3000. • You should now have a complete system, correctly plugged in. Figure 3 shows what a typical system might look like.
Otherwise, you will need to follow the following steps to configure your Sipura SPA-3000: Step 1 • Make sure your Sipura is attached to your router, and that you have a pen and paper handy. • Lift the phone handset and press the * key 4 times (that is: * * * *). • Once you hear the voice saying 'Sipura Configuration', press the following key combination: 1 1 0 # • You will hear the voice read out the Sipura SPA-3000's current IP address.
I'm really surprised to find this firmware has become available. I spent many hours here at WP, on the live chat to Sipura, and then on the phone to Sipura trying to get a fix for this problem. I continually asked Sipura if and when a new firmware would become available and was continually told is was very unlikely.
Reset the TA to 'factory'. Please note that any set ups in our TA will be erased.
This is a group of numbers with dots between them - for example: 000.000.000.000. • Write this IP address down. Step 2 • Open your preferred web browser - for example, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. • Enter the IP Address of your Sipura into the address bar of your web browser.
Does anyone have a copy of 3.1.18 which they can email to me, or point me to a link where I can download it from?
Type the following into the browser address bar to access the web-based configuration portal: ip address) /admin/advanced where the (sipura ip address) is the IP address you obtained in Step 4 above. • Now select the 'EXT 1' tab at the top of the page. Enter your user information from Step 1. Now select the EXT 1 tab at the top of the page. Make the following changes: Under the 'General' heading: • Line Enable = yes Under the 'NAT Settings' heading: • NAT Mapping Enable = no • NAT Keep Alive Enable = no Under the heading 'SIP Settings' • SIP Remote-Party-ID: no • Without the above step, the phone will send calls as 'From: Anonymous' and OnSIP will return '403 Forbidden' on any calls requiring authentication. Extension to extension calls will work just fine. So, this is one potential way to make a phone an extension to extension call only phone if you so desire.

Hello, I own a Sipura SPA 3000 with Firmward version 2.0.13(GWg) I know it's an EOL'ed model but notice echo problems with my wireless handset (some Uniden DECT with an answering machine) and see some references to bug fixes relating to echo in the SPA 3000. Probably since it's an EOL'ed model (and sipura was swallowed twice at least – by Linksys then Cisco), I can't find the firmware file anywhere. Links included in various locations (JMG guide, Whirlpool forums) lead to some Cisco support page. Is there a reliable way for me to get hold of this firmware to try it? Also – is there a way to upgrade the firmware through Linux?
Yeah - well it takes some doing, but works for me using my uniden 2.4GHz handsets. (DSS2455) Note: This is my setup, works for me, but may not work for you. With the Uniden I now use the Talk key (as a flash key) and ignore the call wait key on the top right of the keypad. I dialed 73738#, I think that's a factory reset. Anyway it started working after changing the value of Line1.UseDNSSRV.
A typical IP address is something like 192.168.1.105 or 10.10.1.105 for example. • Run a web browser application on the same network as the Linksys device.
Does it require factory reset? Alex, I did a factory reset first, then loaded the new firmware, powered it down, then powered it up again and setup. I had some issues not being able to call out via the PSTN on a TB and a test Astlinux setup I am trying out at the moment no matter what I tried it would not work, once I reflashed the new firmware and put in the same setting as before all worked well with the first go. I have since upgraded the firmware on a standalone unit which was a real thorn in my head for a few years and no echo not a bit did not have to tweak anything. Happy chappy here.
• Click Admin Login, and then Advanced. See Figure 4 for details. Figure 4: Advanced admin login options on the SPA-3000. Step 3 • Click the System tab. Thank you for your time:) Matthew. Hi Matthew, Great questions. The SPA3000 is EoL so I guess that's why it's hard to find. I've requested that it be made available from Cisco.com I've attached the last release for you. We've some easy links on the community to help locate documents and firmware: Right at the bottom is a link to firmware and tools: This doc links to the Cisco Support Center [login required] There is also a link to anonymous downloads for Linksys products that moved to Cisco.
