Paradigm Speaker Serial Numbers
Paradigm Speaker Identification Help. I have a set of Paradigm fronts with a. I think you'll need to contact paradigm and ask them how to get the model number. The serial number is located on the amp panel on the back of the subwoofer. The speaker system includes two front speakers, two rear speakers, a center channel and subwoofer. Subwoofers with an amperage rating of 1.25A L 250 volt are not included in this recall. Need a center channel speaker to go into your home theater? No problem, just click on 'center' and we will show you only center channel speakers. Search by Accessory.
The SUB 12 first impressed me before the first note came through: The auto on-off is perfectly silent. No thump or snap when it kicks on, which it does promptly as the very first sign of anything other than dead air on its input (confirmed by a delightfully faint illumination of the logo on the front of the unit).

In the meantime, does anyone have any experience with online shops that repair speakers and approx. How much they charge? It is my understanding that some Titan's had binding posts instead of spring clips - I assume that these were produced toward the end of the v1 production cycle (serial #'s would provide a clue) since all later revisions have binding posts also.
Bass output is impressive with and without a subwoofer. Paired with a CC300 and my old school AR sub, makes for a great home theater. Cool - I can't remember exactly but I'd say my v1 Titans are probably 15+ years old and don't have a scratch on them - they still look brand new! As I stated earlier in this post, the foam surrounds have deteriorated and I just found out that a local speaker repair company wants $45 each to repair them (the local Paradigm dealer said that sending them to the factory would be too expensive). I haven't read where anyone has commented on what a speaker sounds like after they get new foam surrounds - I assume they sound the same but am not sure.
The mid/bass driver on the other hand is their relatively new 5.5″ interpretation of their staple 7″ model featured in virtually every other model in the Reference line. It too features an aluminum cone but get this: it still has the same 1.5″ voice coil and motor structure of its larger counterpart, all in the usual heavy cast basket. The only other difference other than the size here is the fact that we have a cone shaped dust cap rather than the alloy phase cone of the 7″ models (which is sort of curious given the fact that Paradigm has made great effort to extol the virtues of this last). Crossover is quoted as 2 kHz, rather low for a single 1″ tweeter, and the oval orifice of the bass reflex port is nestled in right under the mid bass driver on the front. The cabinets of all the new version 5 Reference speakers are a genuine departure, favoring more organic sculpted curves over the square edges of yesteryear. Stop for a minute to ponder how they get this shape. Outsourced to China, the process involves laminating no less than 7 layers of the customary MDF in order to get the thickness required for the insanely solid cabinets we have come to expect from Paradigm.
The sonic personality of the Paradigm Monitor 9 leans to the darker side of the spectrum. Its midrange tends to be full-bodied with good pitch control but with a general softness and roundedness. There’s a slight recession in the upper mids that pleasantly lays the presentation back somewhat, with an edge of spotlighting in the treble. On top the tweeter is a bit dry, and some localization could be heard from the transient attack of reed instruments or in a slight nasality as Anne-Sophie Mutter bows her violin’s lower strings aggressively.
I would do some troubleshooting first. 1) Is it both speakers or just one? 2) Make sure it's not the source or the receiver causing the problem.
If it were my $, I would: *Call my CC company to see if they can help me out at all *Call the local Better Business Bureau or go on the BBB website and file a complaint! You owe it to yourself and you owe it to any future suckers going to Blu Note. *Threaten to take them to small claims court *Actually take them to small claims court. Yup, used a credit card for all purchases. I thought about calling my CC company (Wells Fargo) about this but got scared that my credit would be hurt (I have excellent credit) by disputing a credit card charge like this. Strictly speaking, they did replace the tweeter and that's what I was charged for; I just don't like the damage that was done in addition to it.
As I mentioned at the start, subwoofers have changed somewhat over the past decade in that thanks to much more powerful amplification available at reasonable cost, we can “afford” to use smaller cabinets with longer-throw drivers to get the same output as yesteryear’s massive but relatively underpowered behemoths. Well the SUB12 takes it one step further in that while it still has an insanely powerful amp and incredible long throw driver, it is decidedly not any smaller than a typical “twelve-incher” of yesteryear (and is extremely heavy!). What this means is the potential for truly prodigious output capability (or at least that is what we are here to confirm). Specifically, the SUB 12 features a class-D amplifier quoted as being able to deliver a dynamic peak of 3400 watts and a sustained output of 1700, which when you think about it corresponds to what they can legally and safely draw from a residential wall socket (they have some models which will draw more but these come with the caveat of needing either an uncommon 20amp circuit, or in some cases one which is 240V!).
• This software available in 32x and 64x versions. • The use of this program is very simple and easy.
The 9se and 11se had flabby undefined bass. The fit and finish was ok, the plain black vinyl wood grain wasn't anything to write home about while the optional gloss finishes looked great. At tweeky feature was bi-wiring binding posts. The 6.5' mid and low range drivers featured rubber surrounds on the cones so driver dry rot shouldn't be an issue.
If this doesn't work, you might think about small claims court.
If it were me, and I had invested $5k on a set of S6's, I'd probably drop a few hundred more for a set of aftermarket outriggers like the ones from Soundocity. They'd make your life a lot easier. Paradigm has obviously thought of this as the foot mounts are completely removable with a single screw. While my comparison speakers are woefully inadequate (from a pricing standpoint), my electronics are way up to snuff.

Other that requiring two people to maneuver it, no fault could I find with the exquisite SUB 12 except to say that it is not exactly inexpensive, but if the sticker price doesn’t scare you then by all means go the final mile and add the PBK-1! Brian Florian has been affiliated with Secrets since 1998.
The downside is they don't have any finish options other than matte black. But, if sound is a priority they are outstanding. There is also the Emotiva ERM-1 with dual 5.25'. On closeout, they would come in at $300/ pr as well. Personally, I don't think Atoms are good bang for the buck at $300/ pr.
Sure enough, both speakers were behaving in the same manner - same popping sound as before. So since one seemed a little worse than the other, I decided to disassemble that one first. After removing six screws, the back cover and the interior insulation, I could see right away that the foam surround had deteriorated. I plan to call Paradigm on Monday to see how much it will cost to have the drivers repaired by them. Hopefully they are not so old that they say, 'We don't refurb those any longer.' In the meantime, does anyone have any experience with online shops that repair speakers and approx. How much they charge?
Implementing PBK just ices the cake, in our case principally nulling out a nasty node at about 52Hz we have which, if left unchecked, gives any sub a bloated, unfocused feel through that much used range of the spectrum. With PBK applied we witness a response which was in all practicality down by a scant 3dB at that holiest of audio grails: 20Hz. Conclusions With these latest offerings from Paradigm’s now most extensive line, they solidify the confidence I and scores of others have in them. With precious few qualifiers I’ve yet to be disappointed with Paradigm speakers.
It then crunches the numbers, and uploads a final filter to the subwoofer. The only caveat is if you move the subwoofer you must go through the process again of course (the software also gives you the ability to erase any previously uploaded EQ and return the unit to a non-BPK state). A note on cascading filters. If you have and Anthem processor with ARC you of course would let ARC manage the subwoofer and not need PBK.
So since one seemed a little worse than the other, I decided to disassemble that one first. After removing six screws, the back cover and the interior insulation, I could see right away that the foam surround had deteriorated. There you go. Your noise is essentially your voice coil contacting the magnets of the driver. Don't continue to run the drivers in that condition as it causes damage to the coil. Two options: 1) Refoam the surrounds (there's usually a couple of places in a metro area that will do it for you (for a fee), or you can ship them somewhere like 'Speaker Exchange' here in Tampa to have them refoamed.
My review samples came finished in a beautiful Cherry Wood finish, with Rosenut and Black Ash also available if Cherry isn’t to your liking. I have to say, I’ve been impressed with Paradigm’s cabinets and finishing techniques in the past, but with this new version, I feel they’ve really raised the bar. These speakers are gorgeous, even more so when you consider their price. The Monitor 9 is a four-driver, two-and-a-half-way speaker, with a rear-firing bass reflex port. It uses a one-inch H-PTD dome tweeter mated to a condom-like (I’m not kidding) six-and-a-half-inch M-ICP bass/midrange driver, with two six-and-a-half-inch polypropylene bass drivers.

2) Replace the drivers. Download captain tsubasa sub indo. Reach out to Paradigm and you may get lucky.
• Silver: This finish has a shiny, metallic look. • Pine: This is a wooden finish that has a light, golden-brown color. How many speakers are included in a bookshelf set?

Here's a review I posted to google plus reviews that keeps not getting published, even though my positive review I gave to an independent mechanic showed up right away. This is my review I've been trying to post for Blu Note in Denver, and it should tell the whole story (they stopped being a Paradigm dealer shortly after my September purchase): After wanting to upgrade to some newer Paradigm speakers from the older ones I had, I scheduled a listening session at Blu Note with Marc and Brandon back in September as they were the only Paradigm dealer in Colorado. I went there and brought my test CD to the store for a listening session and started auditioning speakers.
September 19th: I call and get Marc on the phone, who says he'll look into it and give me a call by the end of the day. Again, Marc does not call back. September 21st: I leave a voicemail message asking for better followup/communication from Blu Note in general, and to call me back with further information as to what Blu Note is doing about this concerning the delay.

@jettore: thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to trying your suggestions @PD50U: these have been great speakers imho.

I downsized my system, ditched the McIntosh 402s (too heavy to EVER move again) and bought a Sunfire 5200 multichannel to power the whole thing. I’ve since added a pair of 635w Bryston 7b SST monos for my mains with a third one on the way for the center channel (so much for downsizing). Granted I won’t be able to use any of it for 7 more months and it would have made more sense to buy everything after I move again, but I never let sense get in the way of home theater decisions. They sound great once again. I didn’t get to hear them in the same room or on the same amps, but as far as I can tell they’re 100%. They’re actually packed away until I move again. Too much sound for an apartment!

The center is relieved to provide clearance for the tweeter & the tweeter is recessed within the speaker front, yet you can see the circle in the center of the cross-brace where the pad is blemished from contact with the tweeter. I don't know how much force it would take to compress the foam far enough to crush the protective screen of the tweeter, but this foam has been there! Paradigm has the resources to properly engineer/design their packaging to withstand the rigors of normal handling. These saw some serious abuse! Sure, the seller could have 'doctored' the packaging to look this way.
I text asking him 'was I supposed to hear back from you after 10 this morning? Have not received a followup communication of any sort.' He texts back saying 'Shipping tomorrow upon shipping notification receipt Barb will forward.'
