Can anyone tell me about a laurona model 710 over and under shotgun. Serial number 77314 it was suppose to be made around 1967. It is a spanish shotgun. Also has d48 insctibed on it. I know that 4 brothers started out in 1941 making double barrels. I know they started making over and unders with double triggers.

Galaxy Imports still services Laurona shotguns (no warranty, see Trademark Index). Laurona was founded in Eibar during 1941 by four craftsmen (hence the name Laurona, which in Basque means 'of the four'), each a specialist in a discipline of shotgun mfg. Laurona made SxS guns until 1978, at which time they discontinued mfg. To concentrate on the O/U marketplace. Laurona manufactures high quality O/U shotguns and O/U express rifles/combination guns. Beginning 1992, Laurona switched from a one-piece, demi-block type of fabrication to a monobloc system which has improved strength characteristics while reducing weight in their X-Series line of shotguns and express rifles. Laurona long guns come standard with a Black Chrome metal finish that is extremely resistant to oxidation.

Jan 08, 2014  Confirm that Y*1 is a 1979 gun one of the last sxs guns Laurona made. The action on a boxlock is straight where it meets the stock a sidelock has a curved action. My guess is yours will be a boxlock. My brother bought one new around 1977/8 and if memory serves me right it cost £95 the ejector was about £10 more.

Give me a few years, and Ill get right on it. Now when you go over there and order one custom made, how do you get it back into the country?

I find a model 71 (but no 710). Their shotguns were as you noted, imported by a few different importers, and many of them were sold thru Sears and Roebuck. The model 71 was made in 1973 and 1974. It featured upgrades form the precious model 67. It included a bright chromed receiver, with roll engraving of dogs on the right side, and birds on the left side. Early models featured a solid center rib and blued barrrels. The later ones had a black chrome finish and solid ribbed barrels.

Left hand stocks are available for the 83 MG Super Game, 85 MS Super Game, Trap, and Super Skeet, Silhouette Trap models, and Silhouette Sporting Clays. Suffix designations on Laurona shotguns refer to the following: G - twin non-selective triggers, S - selective single trigger, M - multi-chokes, T - Tulip, BV - beavertail, U - single non-selected triggers. All Super Game Models were available with a deluxe package which includes a recoil pad, mid-bead sight, and select wood for an additional $250. Special order dull matte finished barrels (with multi-chokes) were available for an additional $200 - extra barrels were priced between $635 (20 ga.) or $800 (12 ga.) per set. Their first O/U was the 67 (1967) series.

Don't let it pool in the checkering. Do this a couple of times, and it will look like it was freshly cut. Since you like Spanish guns like I do, here are a couple of sights to check out. The first is AyA and the second one is Laurona.

And the gun would be markes with Sears & Co. Name and a distinct Sears only model number. The number would look like this 1. Find me the model number and I can tell you who built it and what the original manufacture model it is a version of.

If you saw their web site, look at some of the competition guns and the wood. It is only marginally better than yours. Reason is, a lot of the high end guns that they build are completely custom. You could go to Spain and walk into the factory and order a shotgun made to your personal specs, in that you could pick barrel lengths, bore dimensions, choking dimensions, action type, rib width, and have the gun personally fitted to your dimensions for the stock. This is done by an expert with a 'try gun' on targets of the kind you plan to shoot.

Gun uses a box lock action and is a pretty common SxS. Spanish gun making has always taken an extremely unearned 'bad rap' in this country. It is a guild and 'cottage' system and the people that built your gun were at that time learing their craft and now probably master craftsmen. Laurona builds shotguns in their higher grades that are every bit the equal of the Italian guns and still leaves you pocket change. The other company that comes to mind is AyA. The Eibar region is full of small 'cottage' gun makers that produce excellent firearms of high quality and I plan some day to go there and have a competition gun built that is fitted just for me and built the way I want it.

I have not heard of a model 710, but there is info on the 71 (1971) model. They were also sold by Sears as the models 153.512740 and 153.512741. MODEL 71 (VERSIONS G & U) - similar to Model 67 with minor improvements, bright chrome receiver with rolled engraved game scene, earlier models had traditional solid center ribbed blue barrels, later models had solid ribbed barrels with Black Chrome finish. G & U designations are the same as Model 67.

I knew they were still in business, but didnt get any info from them in an e-mail to customer service. I really love the 'skip' checkering. The engraving being done the way you described would explain it somewhat. Its all pretty consistent, but wiht a few wavy spots ya know. Only thing I don't really particularly care for is that the stock doesnt have a whole lot of figure to it. Itd be such a gorgeus gun with a nice curly maple stock or something like that. Im thinking about stripping and restaining it to get rid of the spots on the forearm where the poly chipped off.

And two 20 ga. Guns and feel that they are by far superior to a lot of more expensive guns. Refinish the stock and don't be afraid of hurting the value.

I borrowed a true trap grade Winchester Mdl.21 from one of the members there to shoot. It was absolutely beautiful and still had the original leg o' mutton case it came in from the factory and I said one day I would own a gun like that. Imagine my suprise about 9 years later when I was contacted by an attorney saying that I had been mentioned in his will and was left this shotgun.
