It could very easily have been done in the music store, not the factory. Really no big deal. All in all, this is a really beautiful instrument. And as for sound, this baby is a cannon.

It's A Web Guitar! Howdy, bearguitar! What you have there is a Hohner branded guitar that was likely made in Korea (possibly Japan) in the early to mid 1980's. The extreme 'pointy' shape dates this guitar.

Originally posted by Pengrin Its pretty hard to find info on these guitars. I have one (see attached pic). Great guitars especially since they are cheap.

Like I said, smooth and efficient. The workmanship is very, very good. No sloppy glue residue inside or out, sanded well, etc. The matte finish is attractive. The frets are a little sharp, but not too bad. There is one flaw on the top of the guitar, a very small and shallow ding on the treble side of the soundhole. You have to look hard to find it.

It is also now available in other keys. The 225 - Deuce and a Quarter was a limited edition harmonica on the modular system that was put out in 2007 and 2008.

If your guitar has a solid wood body and sounds/plays well, consider it the equal of a well-built Korean Strat copy. They're still at it, but I'm not sure if the guitars are still Korean or if they are using Chinese and Indonesian subcontractors as well.

I think LPs with Bigsby's look fantastic. It also now has Kent Armstrong humbucker sized P90 pickups.

I did enjoy it quite a bit. I paid $399 new.

I've used this guitar for experimenting with slide playing (something I've never done that much of). If I choose not to play it for slide, I'll probably get a tech to do a setup on this guitar to optimize playability. The street price for these guitars was around $600 when they were in production. As I understand it, they are now discontinued, and the music store from which I purchased this guitar bought up a lot of units of this and other discontinued models.

If any other of you Hohner owners beat me to the punch, well, that's just fine with me. Okay, I'll post about my Hohners now. Or begin to, at least. I have two and I'll probably comment on them in separate posts.

There are other (sub)forums here that would be a more suitable place for this discussion thread, such as the Other Guitars, other instruments forum, or even better the 'Hohner Owners' club thread in the 'Guitar Owners Clubs' forum. If the Moderators of TDPRI do not move your thread there, I would ask you as a favor to re-post your information and pics and questions there. I am an owner of Hohners, and in fact I started the 'Hohner Owners' club thread as a place for our discussion and as a repository of information online. Here's a link to that club thread.

The neck and headstock are also bound in maple. Position markers are inlaid maple, as is the name on the headstock. The nut and saddle are bone. The only plastic on this guitar is the pickguard.

The Little Lady is very similar to the 38C, but on a pearwood comb and with different cover plate art. Hohner Special 20 Marine Band Marine Band [ ] The Marine Band is the base model of the line. It has a serial no on the back of the headstock (see attached pic), The truss rod cover is not there so no info on that. I may well have to buy this off the owner once its fixed - I don't reckon i'll ever afford a gibson - this may well be adequate, it sounds lovely:-) Penguin - how does yours compare to the real thing? Thanks for the compliments on my guitar. It was the second electric I ever bought.

I saw Bowie playing on the Brit Awards with Placebo in about 1998 with the Steinberger that this copies, and thought it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen. Mine has a very, very faint blemish in the finishing (on the back too) so I got it in 2004 for about £230. It was a deal I just couldn't turn down. Look on youtube for 'Hohner G3T' and you'll find that they have quite a unique honky tone unlike any other guitar I've heard. Cheers for the post Steincaster. I just picked it up for a fiddle and the saddle screws are raised 1-2mm already. What's happened is that they (all of them to a small extent, but the g massively so) move towards the nut and the base of the screw carves into the metal.

We ( my guy and I) have a white Hohner ST Special electric guitar. It’s in great shape and sounds really classic. It was handed down from the family over 25 years ago. We don’t know if it was purchased new or used, but the sticker is still on the neck at $329.00. I am assuming this is a nicer model than some?

To make this possible, the XB-40 uses forty reeds as opposed to the usual twenty found in most ten-hole diatonics. With these bending capabilities, the XB-40 gives access to all the notes on the chromatic scale through bending the natural tones of each hole. This model was discontinued in 2013.

One potential down side of that guitar would be if any of the pieces of the bridge or locking nut is damaged or lost- if they're unique pieces to that brand or model, they could be difficult or even impossible to find. Is there any marking on the bridge to suggest the model, manufacturer or licensing? Are all the parts there? That's also a high-maintenance setup (locking, floating bridge), not one I'd suggest for a beginner. Good luck with it, if you're not familiar with that type of system on a guitar you might want to make friends with someone that IS familiar.

It is flame maple but there is a hollow between the maple cap and the mahogony body. This was common practice for a long time (could still be) on budget LP copies as it meant that a flat ply-piece could be used for the top and bent, not requiring carving out like a solid cap does. I think now most do have a solid cap carved from alder or similar with a maple veneer a la Epiphone instead (presumably advancements in CNCD have made this viable at the budget price point). Originally posted by incurab1e excellent, then i'll definately make sure i casn get a hold of this one once its done:-) Out of interest, are bigsby's difficult/expensive to fit? Bigsby's aren't too hard or expensive to fit. The biggest cost with mine was buying the Bigsby. You can leave the holes where the tailpiece fits but I had my luthier fill them.
